The Railway Museum
The Museum has friendly staff and volunteers with a large collection of heritage trains and cabins, great for children. Some of the restoration such as the dining car is superb. It is well worth the time to chat with those who have performed the restoration and privy to a few stories about the engines. Unfortunate to see our heritage gracefully rusting away.

Great place to take the kids for an afternoon. EFTPOS available for entry and drinks at the entry, but make sure to bring cash if you want to purchase ice-cream and drinks at the model train museum independently run and located at the back of the train museum complex. The kids had a great time checking out the different retired trains, there's so much to look at! Would definitely recommend taking the kids there one Wednesday or Sunday afternoon. Nice relaxing, informative and fun day, thank you

I had no idea West Australia's railway Heritage was so interesting with so many fantastic engines carriages and historical items to view this museum is a gem! It's such a shame there isn't a railway station right in front of it so it's more easily accessible... I took my father and son it was a massive hit with them both! You can see how passionate the volunteers here are, and they were so welcoming and willing to answer questions. It was mind blowing to see the inner workings, engineering and mechanisms.. how these trains were built and run is just incredible to ponder! I haven't taken so many photos at a public museum EVER!

Great service from driver - he provided info and asked questions with answers that can make you smile. We enjoyed the service. Approximately 75 mins for return trip including 25 mins for walking in the cascade. Beautiful scenery.Have a visit, when you are in the area and if you like to hear history of tram use and timber, view scenery along with playing in the cascade's river. Support local business.

If you’re planning to take a ride on the tram beware that it only runs twice a day at 10.30am and 2.00pm. Each ride takes 75 minutes. There isn’t much to see here other than the tram ride. A ticket office opens only during the time of departures and arrival of the tram. The store also sells some souvenirs and snacks.

Our kids loved it, and this big kid did too. Load of carriages, engines and many other things railway to explore. Doesn't cost much and run by a bunch of passionate volunteers

Visited a few days ago on an impromptu stop in Merredin. $10 entry fee for adults (cash or eftpos) and open until 3pm. I parked on the north side of the tracks in the car park and walked across. There's lots to see, plenty of information. I had half an hour and didn't even touch the surface. Good spot for photos. Clean, well maintained. If you want to go into the signal tower, make sure you get the key from the reception.
